Inclusive Yoga Event: Empowering 3000 Persons with Disabilities

The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), representing the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJ&E), is organizing a Yoga Event on June 21, 2023, to commemorate International Yoga Day. The event aims to promote the importance of yoga and empower individuals with disabilities to participate fully in society. This significant gathering will involve 3000 participants with disabilities, including those with hearing and visual impairments, locomotor disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities, and other conditions specified under the RPwD Act 2016. The event's goal is to establish a record for the "Highest number (approximately 3000) of persons with disabilities performing yoga in a group for 30 minutes in a single event," highlighting the resilience and capability of individuals with disabilities in actively embracing yoga practices.
